As reported on The Star Online, "The Ministry of Youth and Sports have decided to set up a working committee to ensure hockey will qualify for the 2012 London Olympics.
This includes looking into the possibility of hiring a foreign coach.
Malaysia have not only failed to qualify for the 2004 Athens and 2008 Beijing Olympics, but have also slipped to No. 15 in the world rankings."
Wow, I'm surprised they are as high as 15th!

Hockey is a Way of Life in Alaska |

The New York Times Reports: "Like many parents here in the communities near Anchorage, Sarah Palin raised her older children in hockey rinks.
Powered on white mochas and an aerobics class or two, Ms. Palin, now the governor of Alaska and the Republican nominee for vice president, would drive to rinks at all hours, children in tow. She sometimes ran the scoreboard, let hockey players from other cities sleep on the floor of her home and got involved in the management of her eldest son’s teams."
This sounds like the way of life for many of us with one or more kids in hockey.Write Comment (0 Comments) |

The New York Times report, "At youth sporting events, the sidelines have become the ritual community meeting place, where families sit in rows of folding chairs aligned like church pews. These congregations are diverse in spirit but unified by one gospel: heaven is your child receiving a college athletic scholarship."
On average, the best-paying sport was neither football nor men’s or women’s basketball. .."Write Comment (0 Comments) |

Yet maybe, just maybe, the lessons Harris learned the hard way from Herb Brooks on the old rink of Williams Arena still guide him on the golf course today.
